Teams, clubs and the free help nobody uses

Teams · published · checked · 6 min read

Almost every large casual puzzle game has a team layer, and almost nobody uses it properly. It costs nothing, requires no conversation, and quietly removes the most annoying part of the genre: waiting for lives.

What a team actually does

  • Sends lives. You ask, members send. In an active team a request is usually filled within minutes, which is the entire life timer removed for free.
  • Pools progress. Team events count contributions from everyone, so members who play more carry members who play less. This is the intended design, not an exploit.
  • Unlocks team-only rewards. Some reward tracks are gated behind a team, meaning a solo player simply cannot reach them.
  • Provides a chat. Optional, usually ignorable, and the reason some of these games carry a higher age rating.

Picking one that is worth joining

Team quality varies enormously and the signals are visible before you join:

  1. Member count near the cap but not full, so requests get seen.
  2. Recent activity in the last day rather than the last month.
  3. An open join setting, so you are not waiting on an approval that never comes.
  4. No participation demands in the description. A team that requires daily minimums is a job, not a feature.

If a team turns out to be dormant, leave and join another. There is no cost and no notification to anyone.

Worth knowing before you join anything: team chats are moderated by the game publisher, not by this site or by the team. If a chat is a concern, most of these games let you use every other team feature while ignoring it entirely, and children's accounts can usually have chat disabled from the parent's device.

What a team cannot do

It cannot pass a level for you, cannot grant purchased items, and cannot change your own progress. Contributions to team events are counted from levels you complete yourself. Anyone offering to boost a team score for payment is describing something that does not exist.

Short version

  • Joining is free and removes most of the life timer.
  • Choose an active team, leave a dormant one without ceremony.
  • Team-only rewards exist and are unreachable solo.
  • Chat is optional and can be avoided or disabled.
