Reward tracks: the free line and the paid line
Reward tracks · published · checked · 6 min read
A reward track is a row of prizes unlocked by earning points over a fixed period. Most run two lines at once: a free line everyone gets, and a paid line unlocked by buying the pass. Understanding the shape of both makes the decision simple.
The free line
Reliable, smaller, and usually front-loaded so the first few rewards arrive quickly. For a player with a normal schedule the free line is finished or nearly finished by the end of the period without any special effort. It is the honest baseline of the system.
The paid line
Larger rewards at the same points thresholds, unlocked retroactively if the pass is bought partway through. Two things are worth noticing:
- The paid line is priced against the assumption that you will keep playing all period. If you stop halfway, the unclaimed half is simply lost.
- Rewards on it are almost always consumables: boosters, coins, extra lives. They accelerate progress; they do not add content.

The clock is the mechanic
The price is not really the lever; the deadline is. A track that expires on Sunday converts spare time into urgency, which is precisely what it was designed to do. That is worth naming, because the honest question is not whether the pass is good value but whether you were going to play that much anyway.
If a pass is bought, it is bought through Google Play or the App Store, not from the studio and never from this site. How that transaction works, and what happens if it goes wrong, is a separate subject covered by store policy rather than by anything a game says.
A simple test before buying
- Look at how many days remain and how many days you realistically play.
- Look at what sits on the paid line: if it is only consumables, ask whether you are short of them.
- Wait until the period is at least a third gone. Retroactive unlocking means nothing is lost by deciding later, and by then you know whether you are actually playing.
Short version
- The free line pays reliably and finishes with ordinary play.
- The paid line is a bet on your own future playtime.
- Retroactive unlocking makes waiting free.
- Deadlines, not prices, are what these systems run on.
